(July 9, 2009) The Frisco Athletic Center (FAC) will host the 2009 North Texas Guard Games on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. Due to this event being held at the Frisco Athletic Center, the Indoor and Outdoor Aquatic Center hours will be modified on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 as follows:
Outdoor Aquatic Center
Friday, July 10: open regular hours from Noon - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 11: opening delayed until approximately 1:30 p.m. (conclusion of guard games)
Indoor Aquatic Center
Friday, July 10: 5:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 11: Noon - 7:00 p.m.
(Saturday morning water aerobics cancelled)
The North Texas Guard Games provide an opportunity for guards to test their skills against one another in various events. In addition, participants are able to enhance their skills and decision making abilities. The Frisco Athletic Center will have two teams competing in this year's games. A total of 23 teams are competing from Texas and Oklahoma. The event is closed to the public.
The North Texas Guard Games are organized and facilitated by the North Texas Aquatic Association, which is a group of aquatic professionals from across North Texas. Lifeguards from several different training backgrounds will be competing including NASCO, Ellis & Associates and the American Red Cross.
