(November 25, 2008 – 2:13 p.m.) Oncor officials say power will be restored to approximately 2600 customers in downtown Frisco within the hour.
Those residents and businesses experienced a power outage when a city crew hit a power line. It happened at 1:03 p.m. this afternoon, just east of the intersection of Short and Cotton Gin Roads.
Firefighters say a city employee was using a back hoe to remove a dead tree when tree limbs got tangled in a nearby power line. A downed power line and outage were the results.
The employee remained on the back hoe while utility crews worked to ‘cut power’ to the line and ensure the employee’s safety. Oncor ‘cut’ power to the line within 40 minutes after being alerted to the problem.
No one was hurt.
