Eligibility
Youth 10 through 18 years of age and others currently enrolled in school who receive Class C citations are eligible to participate in the Teen Court program. Participation in Teen Court is based on an admission of guilt. Before enrolling, teens must appear before the Frisco Municipal Court Judge with parent or guardian (if under 17) and enter a plea of guilty or no contest. In order to appear before the Frisco Municipal Judge, teens must appear with a parent or legal guardian (if under 17) at the Municipal Court Clerks Office at 6865 Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75034, with in twenty (20) business day from the date the citation was received to set a court date. The choice of Teen Court is a form of Deferral of Final Disposition.
Participation is voluntary; defendants may chose at any time to pay the fine(s) established for their specific offense(s).
Benefits
Successful completion of Teen Court requirements within the specified time frame results in dismissal of the case(s). Additionally, the teen becomes acquainted with the judicial system and experiences the satisfaction of contributing to the community, while gaining valuable work experience.

Enrollment in the Teen Court program must be done through the coordinator after the defendant has entered a plea in the original court and is deemed eligible for Teen Court. You will receive a court date by mail from the Teen Court office. You must notify the Teen Court office and the original court if you move or change your address.
Disciplinary Grid
Punishment consists of a specific number of community service hours plus a required a number of jury terms and a mandatory 500 word essay. Other requirements may be imposed at time of court appearance.

Completing the Referral Process
ONCE YOUR CASE HAS BEEN REFERRED TO COLLIN COUNTY TEEN COURT YOU WILL RECEIVE A LETTER IN THE MAIL CONFIRMING THE REFERRAL AND/OR SETTING A COURT DATE. IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM COLLIN COUNTY TEEN COURT WITHIN TEN (10) DAYS, YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE TEEN COURT OFFICE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON YOUR REFERRAL.

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF THE TEEN COURT PROGRAM WILL RESULT IN YOUR CASE(S) BEING RETURNED TO THE ORIGINATING COURT, WHERE FINE(S) ASSESSED AT THE ORIGINAL HEARING WILL BECOME DUE AND PAYABLE AND A CONVICTION WILL APPEAR ON YOUR RECORD.

Collin County Teen Court Program is normally held on Thursday evenings. You should arrive no later than 5:40 p.m. on the night your case is set for court.
