Frisco Public Art Program Exhibition Series
Call for Artist
The mission of the City of Frisco Public Art Program is to promote cultural, aesthetic, and economic vitality in Frisco by integrating the work of artists into public places, civic infrastructure and private development. In keeping with that mission the public art board initiated Frisco’s Art in the Atrium series at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Complex. This facility with its open atrium design and tall limestone walls has proven to be an exceptional venue to showcase the artistic excellence of our local and regional artists.
The City of Frisco seeks two dimensional works of art by artist or arts organizations from the Frisco and the surrounding area for the 5th installment of Frisco’s Art in the Atrium series. This exhibition is part of the city’s ongoing exhibition program series at Frisco’s City Hall to showcase regional artistic endeavors and to encourage public dialogue, understanding and enjoyment of visual art. The programs goal is to reflect the artistic excellence in and around Frisco and to promote the city’s cultural and economic initiatives.
The 2010 Art in the Atrium Exhibition is scheduled for November 8th, 2010 through August 26th, 2011.

The George A. Purefoy Municipal Complex (City Hall) does not function as a gallery or museum in its ability to exhibit any and all content within its business setting. While the City of Frisco respects the freedom of expression in visual arts, the City reserves the right to remove or relocate artwork at its sole discretion. ELIGIBILITY and SELECTION
Visual Artists who live or work in and around the Frisco area are invited to submit no more than 10 images of artwork available for loan beginning November 8, 2010 and running through August 26 of 2011. Interested artists or arts organizations must submit the following items on or before Friday, September 24, 2010.
*A typed artist resume with current contact information, no longer than two pages.
*No more than 10 digital images of available artwork. (See image format requirements)
*Corresponding artwork list (artists name, title, date, medium, size, cost)
(The City of Frisco cannot be held responsible for the return of CDs)
Artists shall deliver the Artwork in a form that is ready for immediate display. Two- dimensional Artwork shall be wired for hanging. Artists shall tape the following information on the back of the artwork: Artist’s name, title of piece, medium and cost.
All art submissions to the City of Frisco’s Art in the Atrium Exhibition will be reviewed and selected by an art selection committee (ASC) who will intern move artwork for approval to the Frisco Public Art Board (PAB) and the City’s Public Art Manager. All artists will receive written notice of acceptance, modification, or rejection of their submission within 15 working days of Public Art Board review.
Selection criteria may include:
*Demonstrated excellence of submitted works in conceptual, aesthetic and technical terms.
*Professional qualifications and relevant experience.
*Appropriateness to the George A. Purefoy Municipal Complex as determined by the ASC and the PAB.
IMAGE FORMAT
Artists and art organizations may submit no more than 10 available art work images on a CD (IBM/Windows compatible), in accordance with the following guidelines:
Submit images in .jpg format. If possible, load images into a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show presentation. Macintosh users should test their presentations on an IBM PC before sending.
Only submit images with maximum dimensions of 800x600 and minimum dimensions of 720x480 pixels.
Number each image and include the following annotations for each image:
*Artists name
*Title of Artwork
*Date of Completion
*Medium/Media
*Size
*Cost of artwork
*Label the CD with the artist’s or art groups name and contact information.
(Artists must comply with the formatting criteria in order to be considered.)
EXHIBITION LOCATIONS and LIMITATIONS
Placement of the artwork is the sole discretion of the Public Art Board and the Public Art Manager and will be limited to the following areas:
First Floor - atrium lobby
Second Floor – atrium and stairwell
Third Floor – atrium and stairwell
Forth Floor – atrium and stairwell
Fifth Floor – commons area
SALES
Artwork on display at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Complex may be for sale by the organization or artists loaning the artwork provided that any artwork sold remains on display until the conclusion of the exhibition. However, early removal may be approved by the Public Art Manager with prior written consent. The organization or artist lending artwork for an exhibition must provide a suitable replacement, subject to the Public Art Manager’s approval, for artwork removed from an exhibition before its conclusion.
The artist is responsible for all aspects of a sale transaction of artwork on display. The City shall provide contact information and labels for artworks. The City of Frisco does not receive a commission on or compensation from the sale of artwork exhibited.
PURCHASE FOR PERMANENT COLLECTION
It is the intent of the city of Frisco to create a permanent art collection of Frisco themed artworks. Artwork submitted to the art in the atrium show may be considered for purchase into the City of Frisco’s permanent collection. If the city chooses to select an artwork for purchase from the Art in the Atrium show a contract will be negotiated between the artists and the city. It is the city expectation to sell limited edition, signed reproductions of the artwork to fund future purchases for the city collection.
TERMS OF LOAN and LOAN AGREEMENT
Selected artists will be asked to sign an agreement of loan and all conditions listed therein. View the Art Exhibit Agreement.
