Frisco Fire SafetyTown offers FREE safety education programs open to the public during both spring break week and the summer months. We offer a wide range of safety topics for children who are in or have completed Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. All programs include a short classroom presentation, a hands-on activity related to the topic and bike time in the village. We have a fleet of both 20-inch (some with training wheels) and 24-inch bikes; Total class time is approximately 1 hour. Adults are required to accompany each child.
SUMMER 2012 REGISTRATION begins April 2, 2012.

The topics taught during spring break and summer may include one or more of the following:
Basic First Aid -- children will learn basic methods of applying first aid. From removing a bee's stinger to making a first aid kit children will acquire skills that can be used in most minor emergencies.
Outdoor Safety -- children will learn to identify outdoor hazards as well as the appropriate action to take in the event of encountering such hazards.
Home & Life Safety -- students are shown what injuries most often occur inside the home. They will learn how to recognize potential hazards as well as how to prevent accidents in the home.
Severe Weather Safety -- children will learn the difference between a severe weather watch and a warning and what to do in the event of a severe weather situation. While watching a simulated tornado occurring during severe weather, they will practice seeking shelter.
Bicycle and Wheel Safety -- students will learn the importance of helmets, for both children and adults, while riding wheeled vehicles as well as proper hand signals to use while traveling by bicycle on roadways.
Fire Safety & Burn Prevention --learn what to do in the event a fire should occur in your home. The importance of an exit plan will be discussed and students will use what they have learned to practice 'escaping' from a bedroom window.
Water Safety -- children will learn why wearing a life jacket, swimming with a buddy and water safety smarts are important skills. A variety of water situations are discussed. (No water activities.)
Babysitter Safety --a special 2 hour program for those 10 years and older. Students will learn how to properly handle an infant and small child, types of safe play for children and basic safety measures needed to serve as a responsible caregiver. (This is our only 'independent' class; However, an adult must check in and check out with each student.) This class does
not provide certification.
Safe and Sound Walk Arounds are available for all age groups. A Safe and Sound Walk Around includes a walking tour of the facility and mini-town; Time will be spent in our interactive fire engine and our safety house. Additionally, we invite our younger visitors who take a 'walk around' Safety Town to practice their pedestrian skills and crosswalk safety during the outdoor portion of their tour. (No jeep or bike rides are included as part of the Safe and Sound Walk Around.) Each SSWA last approximately 30 minutes.
